Student Leadership Team: Welcome

Hello!

This is the first newsletter update from our Academy Student Leadership Team. For those of you that don’t know much, or anything, about how Student Voice in our Academy works, we aim to update you with all of the positive things we are doing to improve pupil experience everyday. There’s already a lot to talk about from the last few weeks!

Last Thursday, the Student Leaders and a number of committee members welcomed The Listening Post, as they finished a 14 mile walk to schools and colleges in Darlington. The Listening Post offer free counseling to schools in the town, including ours, and did their walk on the 18th to raise money in aid of the continuation of their fantastic service. The Listening Post volunteers did their best to speak to every pupil, and commended us on how we presented ourselves, from the Year 7s to Year 10s.

We’ve also held interviews for new job roles within the Academy, and a number of our Student Leadership Team were present on the various Pupil Panels held - a vital part of our interviewing process. Candidates are asked questions and required to hold discussions with our group of pupils, selected from all year groups, and the panel feeds back to Mr Lythgoe on their thoughts. Once again, our pupils were highly commendable and offered valuable insight ahead of appointments within the Academy.
