STEM Club - elephant's toothpaste

Tuesday, 12th December 2017

At STEM club this week we made elephant's toothpaste!

For the teacher demonstration we used Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which naturally breaks down into water and oxygen. We added a catalyst to speed up the reaction; dish soap to catch the oxygen; and food colouring to make it look cool!

The students created their own version using safer, everyday alternatives, which led to a similar smaller scale reaction. It was an enjoyable experience for all and lots of 'toothpaste' was made!
