Extra Curricular

After school on Wednesdays is our dedicated Extra Curricular period when students can join in a variety of activities and clubs.

Our staff work hard to ensure that students have the opportunity to be involved in a range of musical, creative and enrichment activities, many of which support learning in the classroom.

In addition, students can take part in a range of additional sporting activities that take place on mornings and after school throughout the week.

Our Wednesday Extra Curricular programme starts at 3pm and typically lasts for 60-90 minutes. The programme for the Autumn/Winter 2015 term includes:

Press Gang

Aimed at students with a nose for news who want to share what’s happening in the academy with others, be it in sport, food, fashion, cultural events or daily life at St Aidan’s. We need editors, reporters, designers and photographers.

Debate Club

For students in Years 10 and 11, this is a great opportunity to develop your public speaking and debating skills as the Humanities staff help you to hone and articulate your views on a range of controversial subjects.

Enterprise Club

Budding entrepreneurs can formulate and grow their business ideas, ready to win over a ‘dragon’.

Where and when: 3pm-4pm, in 169 Wilfred

DT Club

Learn how to design and build a bird box ready for spring, with Mr Dodd.

Where and when: 3pm-4pm, in 161 Cuthbert

Bake-Off Club

Learn technical skills and practise your signature dish ready for creating your own showstopper at this food club with Mrs Callaghan.

Stat Club

What’s the probability of something happening, why did it happen and is it normal? These are all answers to ask, and answer, at Statistics Club.

Music Club

Practise and pick up new instrumental and musical skills with Mrs Kemp.

Film Club

Watch and review the latest films, with movie snacks included.

42 Club

The name remains a mystery, but the brave and adventurous can find out at this science-based club where members get to choose and try out the kind of experiments you never get to do in class with Mr McCann.
